Bed and breakfasts and hotels NEVER LISTED FOR SALE. If customers or professional publications knew such information, they wouldn't make reservations and the publications would drop thier ratings. You must approach the owners directly. If you do ask a bed and breakfast owner if thier place is for sale, they will almost always say "YES" !
The biggest reason for the dissatisfaction owners have with thier B+B business is they can NEVER leave the place. They got into the business because of a fantasy about what the lifestyle would be like and didn't ask an experienced person beside the previous owner.
The owner of the typical B+B must be there, working around the clock, seven days a week, 365 days a year. They can never leave. Ever!
If they higher a manager, they will go broke. Most B+B's will not support a staff big enough to replace the hands on management of the owner (owners).
There are many fine hotels and B and Bs in Santa Fe and northern New Mexico for sale. They are a unique business and we have retained the services of the woman who started the first and one of the most successful bed and breakfasts in Santa Fe. Although she can't answer questions regarding real estate (state law), she can be very informative about operating B+B's.
We sometimes have hotels and bed and breakfasts in Santa Fe, Taos, and northern New Mexico for sale. The owners of Santa Fe hotels have to be very discrete about letting it be known they're for sale. As was said previousley can't list their names on the internet, or put signs on them. There are some professional hotel and B+B publications that will not list them, and customers who will cancel, if it's known they're for sale.
