New Mexico Land

40 ACRES at

Rough Mountain Ranch

Animas, New Mexico

$90,000

This 40 acre parcel was part of the Rough Mountain Ranch, named after the mountain that sits to the northeast.  The ranch is in the "boot heel" of New Mexico where it meets Arizona and Old Mexico. This is really getting away from it all. Some of the most remote country in the lower 48 states. There is no sign of human habitation all the way to the horizon of the mountains in old Mexico and the Pellencio Range on the Arizona state line. The famous Grey Ranch, which is in a "conservation easement" lies to the south and west. The land is the flat area, at the entrance to a canyon, at the base of Rough Mountain. This is the ultimate in privacy. A spectacularly beautiful retreat.

The wild life includes mule deer, Couse deer (small white tails), Javelina, quail, doves and mountain lions, and there species of wild life in the Animas mountains to the south that exist no where else on earth.

This is Apache country. It was part of the nomadic lands of the Chiricahua Apaches like Cochise and Geronimo. The views are to the west (with no interruption) all the way to the Pellincillos where Skeleton canyon lies on the Arizona side. That's where Geronimo once surrendered to General Crook in 1885.

It's impossible to photograph the immense space and beauty of the south west, especially in these little snap shots. The beauty of the land and surrounding country is breathtaking all the way to the horizons.
